Automotive disruptor Carma has appointed Sling & Stone as its communications agency of record to educate and build trust around the pre-owned car buying and selling processes.
Carma is completely flipping the way people buy cars. Founded in 2021 after landing the largest seed funding round in Australian history at the time, Carma provides a single online destination for hundreds of quality-assured vehicles. Unlike peer-to-peer marketplaces, Carma owns the cars and delivers them straight to the buyer’s homes with integrated financing options. All vehicles undergo a rigorous in-house inspection and reconditioning process, using data-driven techniques to evaluate hundreds of pre-owned cars. Carma rejects nearly 90% of the vehicles it evaluates, purchasing only those that pass strict set criteria to ensure consumers only buy cars of extraordinary quality.
The partnership will see Sling & Stone supporting Carma’s expansion across Australia through an integrated earned media, social and content-driven approach.
Kasi Talbot, Global Head of Consumer, Sling & Stone:
“A car is the second biggest purchase many Australians will make in their lifetime, and for many who don’t have a deep understanding of the automotive industry, it’s one of the riskiest. Carma is truly disrupting the used car industry and setting a new standard for customers who crave a seamless, trustworthy buying experience.
“Sling & Stone was created specifically to help ambitious brands that are shaping the future, and Carma is doing just that. The team’s innovation and ambition is infectious and we’re proud to support them in their mission to bring more magic to the whole car-buying experience.”
Emily Meier-Murren, Director of Brand Marketing, Carma:
“As we aspire to become the trusted leader in Australian used cars, partnering with the right agencies is paramount. Sling & Stone has a record of working with disruptor and challenger brands and we were impressed by their creative approach to both consumer and corporate communications. We look forward to partnering with them on this exciting next phase of growth to deliver on our vision of making the pre-owned car experience beautiful from every angle.”
Carma was most recently crowned the Australian Financial Review’s Most Innovative Company in the retail, hospitality, tourism and entertainment category, fresh off the back of landing a $73 million Series A funding round.
